False Ceiling

False ceiling have become a very integral part of any interior project design. False ceiling design selection depends on the requirement and room environment of the premises. We at TECHNICON specialise in supply and Installation of different types of False Ceiling system.  We are preferred installers for ARMSTRONG & HUNTER DOUGLAS products.

There are various types of False Ceiling systems available with different properties and advantages. Below are some details regarding the properties and advantages of the False Ceiling system mainly used in the commercial projects.

TYPES OF SUSPENSION CEILINGS :

There are different types of suspended ceilings in use, each type tailored to the client needs.

Mineral Fibre suspended ceilings - This type of suspended ceiling was one of the first types developed and is the best option where price is a major consideration. They have been improved to increase fire resistance, increased acoustic abilities and humidity resistance. These ceilings are usually white however it is possible to get these tiles in a range of different textures and colours.

Mineral Wool suspended ceilings - They are the first choice for the majority of contractors because of their excellent performance. It is one highest fire resistant types of suspended ceiling available. The mineral wool ceiling is so stable that over a range of temperatures it retains its thermal performance throughout the lifetime of the building. Mineral wool has a lifetime of 50 years and saves more than 1,000 times the amount of energy used to produce it.

Plasterboard suspended ceilings - These ceilings provide the most versatile design options. They also have great acoustic performance and are tolerant of high humidity. They have good fire protection and are easy to maintain. There is quite a range available for example, lay in grid tiles, planks, and seamless boarded solutions. The ceilings tiles can be vinyl faced or patterned to assist any interior environment.

Metal suspended ceiling systems - This Type of ceiling have a number of advantages over the conventional mineral fibre suspended ceilings and should be considered before specifying. They have a low life cost as they are manufactured to the highest standard durable materials such as steel or aluminium. That coupled with a polyester process protects against corrosion and is suitable for washing and is humidity resistant. The average life span for these ceilings is approximately 25 years. The perforation patterns combined with acoustic infill provide you with great sound absorption and specialised performances criteria can be achieved. You can also vary the appearance without affecting the sound absorption. These ceilings are made to measure.

MINERAL FIBRE CEILING
:

Installing a Mineral Fibre ceiling has many benefits as well as making the area look more professional, fresh and new. We are ARMSTRONG approved contractor, which demonstrates our ability to install suspended ceilings. Mineral Fibre ceilings can be used to cover up wires, piping, air ducts and all other utilities that clutter up the ceiling area.

Advantages of  Mineral Fibre Ceiling :

Outstanding sound absorption performance to provide an integrated solution for indoor noise reduction along with Excellent light reflectance and durability.

Good moisture & High humidity resistance properties and better sag resistance performance than other similar products.

No harmful chemicals of asbestos and formaldehyde, Zero Release of CH2O, making it environmentally friendly.

GYPSUM BOARD CEILING / DRYWALL TECHNOLOGY :

Gypsum board is often called drywall, wallboard, or plasterboard. Gypsum is used as plasterboard to create false ceilings and high performance drywalls and partitions.

Globally, gypsum drywall systems are used as a replacement of brick and mortar construction. It differs from other panel-type building products, such as plywood, hardboard, and fibreboard, because of its non-combustible core and paper facers. Drywalls offer excellent performances in terms of fire protection and thermal insulation.

Gypsum Ceiling can be of two types namely seamless and lay-in tiles type :

Seamless Gypsum Ceiling - When joints and fastener heads are covered with a joint compound system, gypsum wall board creates a continuous surface suitable for most types of interior decoration. The Gypsum Boards generally comes in the size of 1.83mt. x 1.22mt. This type of ceiling is used where there is no requirement of maintenance above the ceiling, since it is not possible to open the ceiling with ease.

Lay-In Tiles Gypsum Ceiling Tiles - Gypsum Board Lay in Tiles can be installed in the T-Grid ceiling system in the size of 600mm x 600mm. This type of Ceiling are recommended where there is frequent requirement of maintenance above the ceiling, since these ceiling tiles can be removed with ease and reinstalled without any damage to the ceiling system.

Advantages of Gypsum Board Construction

Gypsum board walls and false ceilings have a number of advantages :

Ease of installation - In drywall construction, the construction time is five to eight times faster and is non-messy. Gypsum plasterboard systems are light-weight and therefore can provide huge structural savings if incorporated at the design stage of the project as using these systems reduces the dead-load onto the structure by a huge margin.

Versatility - Drywalls are aesthetically more appealing; they offer flexibility in creating and dividing spaces and also allows design experiment with shapes and sizes to the false ceiling.

Fire resistance & Thermal Insulation - Drywalls offer excellent performances in terms of fire protection and thermal insulation: Gypsum based products and systems provide excellent passive fire protection solutions ranging from 1/2 hour to four hours. The bound crystalline water in gypsum plays a important role in excellent fire resistance properties.

Sound Insulation - Drywalls offer excellent performance in terms of sound insulation: Given the fact that conventional walls (wooden, brick, block etc.) offer poor sound insulation. The correct room design, be it wall partition or false ceiling with the correct building material go hand in hand in delivering the perfect room acoustics.

Energy Efficient & Eco Friendly - Drywalls are energy efficient and eco friendly in nature. The thermal insulation provided by Drywalls is 5 times better compared to brick or block wall owing to low Thermal Conductivity (K-Value). This low thermal conductivity and high Thermal Resistance results in bringing down the electrical consumption of a building as it reduces the load of Air-Conditioning. Furthermore Gypsum is a 100% recyclable material.

Gypsum plasterboard systems for partitions as well as false ceiling are very fast to erect and provide huge labour saving and flexibility in construction. All these benefits packaged in one system are a rare combination.

METAL CEILING SYSTEM :

Metal Tile Ceiling Systems blend style with functionality, offering a clean, monolithic or grid pattern aesthetic and a variety of options. A wide range of aluminium, zinc / aluminium coated steel and stainless steel tile sizes and perforation patterns are available.

Metal Tile Suspension Systems provide varied aesthetic characteristics through concealing or exposing the grid system. A rigid grid system ensures that the ceiling is aligned and easily levelled. The major advantage of this metal ceiling system is that metal tiles can be easily removed and replaced, allowing full access to above-ceiling services.

There are three suspension types offer the options of Clip-in, Hook-on and Lay-in designs. With the inclusion of non-woven material, effective acoustic ceiling solutions can be achieved.

Advantage of Metal ceiling system
Long-term sustainable value :

A number of organizations promote the construction of building designs that meet building user’s needs through better working environments and energy-efficient design. Metal Ceiling provides the durability that clients want along with Contemporary ceiling design as per the aesthetic requirement of the premises.

Metal Ceiling systems have long-term value and environmental credentials along with design flexibility to meet the demands of occupants over a very long building life cycle. With a twenty-five-year life cycle and minimal ongoing maintenance metal ceilings have become a preferred building material for Morden day projects.
